On the Side of Truth
The truth! “What is truth?” Truth is the way things really are. Truth is a Person. His name is Yeshua/Jesus. Hours prior to His crucifixion, while before the Roman Governor, Pontius Pilate, Yeshua/Jesus said to him, "The reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to Me” — John 18:37.
The Truth will Set You Free
The truth – the way things really are – is what Jesus declared that He was born to reveal and testify about. To be on the side of truth, if we sincerely seek to know things as they really are, as Yeshua/Jesus said, is to listen to Him. John, a follower of Yeshua/Jesus, writes about an earlier time when, “To the Jews who had believed Him, Yeshua/Jesus said, ‘If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free’” — John 8:32. To know the truth as Yeshua/Jesus taught it, and by holding on to it, is to truly be free and know life as we are intended to know it. Freedom comes through hearing Yeshua/Jesus, listening to Him, and walking in what He says.
No One
It is written of the child born in a manger, Yeshua/Jesus, that He “grew and became strong; He was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on Him” - Luke 2:40.
Having grown into His early 30s, filled with wisdom and embodying God’s grace, it was with jealousy and envy that the chief priests and the Pharisees sent temple guards to arrest Him:
“Finally, the temple guards went back to the chief priests and the Pharisees, who asked them, “Why didn’t you bring Him in?” “No one ever spoke the way this man does,” the guards replied” — John 7:32, 45-46.
No one has ever spoken in the way that Yeshua/Jesus did! People’s lives and hearts change because of who Yehsua/Jesus is and what He says. He changes the way we see ourselves and this world. He changes the way we think and the way we live. He changes us, period!
These temple guards were not weak, timid, unassertive, or ineffectual in the normal course of their duties. They were tough and loyal men! Yet, so significant and compelling was the wisdom and grace Jesus had, and the authority He carried, that He wielded greater influence over them—far beyond the charge these guards had been given.
Untold numbers have since encountered Yeshua/Jesus personally or in the company of others. Often, it has been dramatic. For many, it has been simply and profoundly humbling. Whatever the case, it has been life-changing. They too have found that: “No one ever spoke the way this man does.”
